Drugs, personal grudge eyed in woman's murder in Consolacion
CEBU, Philippines — Police investigators are looking into personal grudge and involvement in illegal drugs as possible motives in the shooting to death of a woman in Barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion town Tuesday afternoon.
The victim, Lyka Solis Villaruel, 37, was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen at her premises in District 4, Purok Gomburza. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Police Senior Master Sergeant Ramon Chinel, desk officer at Consolacion Police station, said the victim was involved in illegal drugs. In fact, she had been arrested four times already but was released from jail either by posting bail or through plea bargaining agreement.
"Kini siya atong biktima, sige na ni siyang madakpan tungod sa illegal drugs pero gitan-aw sad nato nga naay personal motive," said Chinel.
Chinel said investigators are now back-tracing Villaruel’s activities to help them establish the motive and the possible identity of the suspects. — FPL (FREEMAN)
