More vaccination eyed sites in Talisay
CEBU, Philippines — Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. has planned to expand their vaccination sites to accommodate more Talisaynons and speed up its vaccine roll-out.
As of its latest update, there are only 716 individuals who are fully vaccinated under their vaccination program.
Interestingly, there are more senior citizens in Talisay City who are now fully vaccinated than the health frontliners at 370 as against 270 for the latter and 76 others with comorbidity.
For those who have been vaccinated with the first dose alone, there are 3,222 individuals already inoculated of which 713 are under A1; 1,824 under A2, and 685 for A3 categories.
So far, vaccine brands used in Talisay City are Sinovac and AstraZeneca as handed to them by the Cebu Provincial Health Office.
Gullas said, aside from looking for more vaccine supplies, they are also planning to expand their vaccination sites.
“Aside from looking for the vaccines we need for the roll-out, we are also planning to expand our vaccination sites to get more people to get themselves vaccinated,” said Gullas.
Gullas is already coordinating with the Project Balik Buhay (PBB) so they can vaccinate more people through their initiative.
Apart from the PBB, Gullas also said that he has talked with a car dealer based in Talisay City who is offering to provide a place as another vaccination site.
At the moment, the city is only utilizing the Lagtang Gym as its vaccination center.
“With more vaccination sites, we can get more people to register and be vaccinated, increasing our chance nga magka-herd immunity ta,” said Gullas.
At the moment, there are still 7,019 individuals that have registered for vaccination against COVID-19 in Talisay City out of the 227,645 population.
In line with this, Gullas is encouraging others to register already.
“As we continue to vaccinate each member of a priority group, we move closer towards vaccinating others. So I ask you to immediately register if you are part of A1, A2 and A3,” he said.
“For those who want to get vaccinated, please visit your barangay units and look for your respective GAD focal person. They are in charge of registration,” added Gullas. — GMR (FREEMAN)
