DSWD-7 creates own insignia, motto

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development 7 has unveiled its insignia and motto that symbolizes the field office’s brand of service in Central Visayas.

It  said that the insignia came after when the DSWD gave its field offices the liberty to create an identity of their own insignia that best represents the region and motto, which conveys the kind of services the field office provides to the public.

DSWD-7 adheres to the belief in its motto: “Gabay at Serbisyo Tungo sa Isang Maunlad na Pamayanan”.

The DSWD-7 insignia which was unveiled during its culminating activity of its 70th Founding Anniversary has numerous towers and lighthouses as it is mostly composed of coastal towns and cities.

“The Social Marketing Section of DSWD-7 took inspiration from lighthouses and towers that historically protect and guide the people within the area,” it said.

The lighthouse, being the major element of the insignia, is an amalgamation of the notable tower structures from the four island provinces in Central Visayas, specifically the woodwork of the roof of the Dauis Watchtower in Bohol; Light of the Bagacay Point Lighthouse in Liloan, Cebu; Buttress of the Campanario de Dumaguete in Negros Oriental; and the facade of the St. Francis de Assisi Bell Tower in Siqujor.

It added that the lighthouse structure in the insignia projects strength, protection, and guidance.

Other essential elements along with it are the light that radiates hope and positivity; the heart that signifies genuine service and compassion; and the wave that indicates adversities and challenges.

“The insignia coupled with the motto reflects the region office’s genuine efforts in providing guidance and service to uplift and strengthen the poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged individuals, families, and communities in the four island provinces of the Central Visayas region,” DSWD-7 further said. —GMR (FREEMAN)
