Couple missing for 3 days found dead

The couple was identified as Michelle Capangpangan, 38, and Geovanni Capangpangan, 45, residents of Barangay Poblacion in the town of Liloan, Cebu.

CEBU, Philippines —  A couple who went missing for three days were found dead at their rented place in Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.

The couple was identified as Michelle Capangpangan, 38, and Geovanni Capangpangan, 45, residents of Barangay Poblacion in the town of Liloan, Cebu.

According to their relatives, the couple went missing since Thursday which prompted them to check the latter at their rented place used for their business, a jewelry repair shop.

They believed that the couple was just inside the place considering that the air-conditioner was operating, which prompted them to ask for help from a carpenter to open it when no one had answered when they knocked on the door.

Initial investigation revealed that it was a crime of passion and robbery is no longer considered as another angle.

SPO2 Jacklord Pugoy, investigator-on-case, said they have obtained a suicide note written by Geovanni asking for forgiveness for what he had done.

“Mga anak mao rani ang tubag sa tanan kuyog ko sa imong mama, pasayloa ko,” the letter read.

Pugoy said this will serve as their evidence that it was a crime of passion but stressed that they will wait for the autopsy result of the victims for conclusion.

He disclosed that Michelle has signs of being choked around her neck while Geovanni might have drunk a chemical which caused his death.

“Ang babaye maoy unang gipatay. Ang lalaki walay samad mga kinawrasan lang. Maybe niinom ba ni siya (Geovanni) or kuan. So, i-conclude nato sa autopsy na. Walay robbery nahitabo kay intact tanan ang lock,” he said.

He further said that Geovanni’s relatives alleged that the couple, who had three children, has been fighting due to a third party. — GMR (FREEMAN)
