Peace and order still ‘manageable’ despite pandemic

CPPO director Col. Aladdin Collado said yesterday amid the continued threat of the pandemic.

CEBU, Philippines —  Despite having to juggle regular police work and the enforcement of health protocols against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Cebu Provincial Police Office is able to keep the peace and order situation of the province at a “manageable” level.

CPPO director Col. Aladdin Collado said yesterday amid the continued threat of the pandemic.

"Masasabi pa rin natin na manageable level ang peace and order natin ay makikita rin naman natin sa statistics natin, hindi pa rin kami tumitigil sa aming gawain para sugpuin ang mga kriminal aktibidadis," said Collado.

Collado said that in coordination with the Department of Health, they have continuously intensified their monitoring on the enforcement of the minimum health standard protocols in the Province.

"Hindi pa rin kami tumitigil sa pagpa-alala sa mga tao natin sa mga protocols at saka paggamit sa mga preventive protections equipment natin," said Collado.

Collado said that they have been doubling their functions in the province balancing their regular law enforcement functions and their monitoring on the COVID-19 responses.

He, however, admitted that they are really needing additional personnel.

Collado said he has been constantly visiting municipal and city police stations in the province to remind them of the existing health protocols.

Among those that the CPPO cops have been looking at are the tourism spots in the province.

"Binabalanse kasi din natin yung kalusugan at saka kabuhayan," said Collado.

As of yesterday, Cebu Province has a total of 1,033 active COVID-19 cases with the additional new cases of 93. — GMR (FREEMAN)
