CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Council has urged all mountain barangays in the city to install their respective road signages and boundaries.
Councilor Joel Garganera sponsored a resolution regarding the matter which was approved by the City Council.
“Putting up road signs are essential in keeping the welfare of the public to provide necessary geographical information and communicate messages to drivers and other road users in providing directional information to certain destinations,” said Garganera.
Garganera said some barangay road signages and boundaries are already destroyed and worn-out due to passage of time and normal “wear-and-tear”.
He said these signages guide the drivers, commuters, and the riding public, in general, to reach their destinations.
Garganera said the unavailability of barangay road signages may pose inconvenience to motorists and tourists who are unfamiliar with the city’s streets.
There are at least 20 mountain barangays in Cebu City.
These are Barangays Adlaon, Agsungot, San Jose, Binaliw, Cambinocot, Busay, Lusaran, Pit-os, Taptap, Malubog, Buot, Pung-ol Sibugay, Tagbao, Toong, Sinsin, Sapangaku, Pamutan, Pulangbato, Budlaan, Sudlon II, and Tabunan, among others. — GMR (FREEMAN)
