Cebu City’s active cases at 1,257
CEBU, Philippines — Active COVID-19 cases in Cebu City are now 1,257 with 108 new cases added to the list on Jan. 29, according to the case bulletin of the Department of Health-7.
The number of active cases now equals that of around August last year. The difference is that towards the end of August, the city was only logging around 10 to 20 cases compared to the situation now when new cases register in scores.
In the monitoring of the Emergency Operations Center, however, there are now 1,232 confirmed active cases, spread across 62 barangays of the city.
Yet despite the continued increase, the EOC assures that hospitals here are still very much in good shape.
Aside from the hospitals, there are other quarantine facilities available such as the Noah Complex at the South Road Properties, which is being expanded, as well as the Cebu City Quarantine Center and some schools which are being used as barangay isolation centers.
Some hotels are also being converted to quarantine facilities.
At the moment, there are 396 patients at the Noah Complex, 92 at the IC3 in Barangay Mabolo, 164 in two barangay isolation centers, 14 in the CCQC; and 16 in Travel Bee. The rest are in different hospitals and other hotels.
EOC data showed that the critical care occupancy for public hospitals is currently at 58.3% while private hospitals altogether is at 20.4%.
Meanwhile, Lapu-Lapu City currently has 146 total active cases, including 23 new ones. Mandaue has 284 with 16 new cases and the rest of Cebu province has 586 active cases, including 44 new ones.
Negros Oriental, on the other hand, has 43 additional cases, bringing its total active cases to 789. Bohol got four more additional cases for a total of 43 while Siquijor had four remaining cases after one was declared recovered last Jan. 29. — JMD (FREEMAN)
