Lapu-Lapu, 3 other LGUs improve CMCI rankings
CEBU, Philippines — The City of Lapu-Lapu has ranked fourth in the Most Improved Highly Urbanized Cities of the 2019 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index Rankings.
Lapu-Lapu City, however, is 22nd in the overall 2019 CMCI Rankings which is three ranks improvement from its 25th rank in 2018.
CMCI is an annual ranking of local government units by National Competitiveness Committee (NCC) and the Regional Competitiveness Committee (RCC).
The NCC and RCC are assisted by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
“Daku ang akong kalipay para sa mga Oponganon nga maoy angayan niini nga pasidungog. Timaan lang kini nga epektibo ang atong mga programa ug kalihukan para mapalambo ang siyudad. Walay lain deserving sa pasalamat kung dili ang mga Oponganon kay sila ang nikuyog kanato sa atong paningkamot,” said Lapu-Lapu City Representative Paz Radaza as the recent ranking was based in 2018 when she was then the city mayor.
The 2019 CMCI Rankings was just recently released by the NCC.
With the recent feat of the city, Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan was proud of this new ranking.
“Daku kaayo ang akong kalipay kay sa 146 ka component cities ug 33 ka highly urbanized cities sa tibuok Pilipinas, naapil gyud kita sa Top 10. Congratulations kanatong tanan! Kadaugan kini sa matag Oponganon!” said the mayor in his Facebook post.
The CMCI Ranking is based on four criteria: economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency. Each of these criteria has a weight of 25 percent totaling 100 percent.
“Makita gyud nato nga sa pagtinabangay, kitang tanan ang mobenepisyo,” Radaza added.
Meanwhile, San Remigio town in northern Cebu also ranked second among the Top 10 Third to Sixth Class Municipalities.
For the 2019 Most Improved Rankings for Component Cities, Toledo City ranked 74th from 108th in 2018 while Danao City ranked 64th from 86th in 2018. — GMR (FREEMAN)
