4 nabbed for drugs in Talisay

Authorities arrest a high value target and his female cohort in Bulacao, Talisay City, Cebu.

CEBU, Philippines — Four drug suspects were arrested in a series of operations dubbed as “Oplan Limpyo Talisay” conducted by the elements of Talisay City Police Station since Tuesday night until yesterday dawn.

The first operation conducted in Colis Street, Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City resulted in the arrest of Godofredo Engalla Alegado, 46, and the confiscation of 5.15 grams of shabu worth P35,020.

Police authorities considered Alegado as high-value target.

Another buy-bust operation conducted yesterday dawn in Barangay Cansojong resulted in the arrest of Jerzen Abatayo, 33. Seized from him was P5,440 worth of shabu. The police also arrested Arnel Taraña Vellila, 26, and Virgie Repuela Ababon, 34, during a separate operation in Barangay Bulacao Wednesday dawn. Seized from them were several packs of shabu worth P40,800.

Police Major Gerard Ace Pelare,Talisay Police Station chief, said the series of operations was in compliance with the instruction of PNP Chief Debold Sinas to intensify the anti-criminality operations despite the pandemic.

“This also part of our preparation for the Christmas rush, it is always true that if there is drug users, there will be commission of crimes and robberies, as part of our preparation we are trying to make sure that we get rid of these individuals in the street,” said Pelare.

Pelare said the series of operations was the result of several weeks’ intelligence and surveillance work.—FPL (FREEMAN)
