DepEd: Schools can hold virtual Christmas party
CEBU, Philippines — Christmas party at school has always been exciting for students but because of the pandemic, it won’t materialize this year.
However, there’s an alternative way: a virtual Christmas party.
Department of Education-7 regional director Dr. Salustiano Jimenez said a virtual party is the safest way to celebrate Christmas as students will hold the event without putting their lives at risk to COVID-19.
Besides, conducting virtual Christmas party at school is now part of the “new normal” setup, Jimenez said.
Jimenez also advised parents to explain to their children the importance of “stay-at-home policy,” saying that face-to-face activities that involved students are still prohibited.
“Duna koy nadunggan nga ingon niana nga mga party (online), gibuhat napud na sa ubang schools. Lingaw raman pud daw. Kun ganahan gyud sila og party, ipaagi nalang og online. Sa maong pamaagi, mas safe ang mga bata kay naa ra sila sa ilang tagsa-tagsa ka panimalay,” according to Jimenez.
In his Christmas message, the regional director told the students about the importance of education.
“Magtarong gyud ta sa atong pagtungha, kay para sa inyo raman sad ni nga kaayohan ilabi na sa inyong kaugmaon,” Jimenez said.
The holiday break for all public schools will begin on December 13 and classes will resume on January 4, 2021. — LPM (FREEMAN)
