CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) Cebu City Division has initiated a donation drive for the victims of typhoons Tonyo and Ulysses in Luzon.

So far, the division has gathered P280,000 worth of canned goods via its “de Lata ko, Tulong Ko! Donation campaign drive,” said Remus Marinas, president of the Cebu City Public School Teachers’ Association (CCPSTA).

CCPSTA, the National Association of Public Secondary School Heads Inc.-Cebu City Division, and the Philippine Elementary School Principals Association-Cebu City are the division’s campaign partners.

Marinas said they are extending the donation drive until next Monday, November 30.

The group is targeting at least P400,000  worth of canned goods to be delivered to Luzon.

Also, they are now accepting cash donations from those who could not go out and buy some canned goods.

For cash donations, one can call or text 0919-374-8827 for pick-up or hand it over to the division office’s administrative officer.

DepEd-Cebu City and its partner associations stressed that this is purely voluntary and not mandatory. — KQD (FREEMAN)
