Consolacion town fiesta off limits to non-residents

CEBU, Philippines —  Non-residents of Consolacion will not be allowed to enter the town during its fiesta celebration to avoid possible spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“Non-residents of Consolacion are prohibited to visit their family, friends or relatives in Consolacion on October 28 to October 30, 2020. All non-essential travels are also prohibited,” read the Executive Order No. 76 issued by Mayor Joannes Alegado.

Other activities like discos, concerts and other forms of entertainment that can draw large crowd are also prohibited. Liquor ban will be strictly implemented during those dates.

“Families and residents within the town proper are allowed to privately celebrate the town fiesta but only within their respective residences. Celebrations shall be limited between household members,” the mayor’s order stated.

Town residents are allowed to go out of their houses provided that they bring their quarantine passes except for “religious worship or service.”

Those below 21 years old, including those with underlying conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and pregnant women are required to stay at home except in emergency situations, work-related activities and religious service or worship.

“All business establishments are mandated to demand for a valid ID or any proof evidence manifesting their age and shall deny admission in case of non-compliance,” it added.

The barangay and national roads must be free from all obstructions such as tables, chairs, tents, among others. Parking along the roads and sidewalks is strictly prohibited. — FPL (FREEMAN)
