CEBU, Philippines — At least four barangays in Cebu City were affected by flooding caused by the heavy rains over the weekend.
Ramil Ayuman, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) officer-in-charge, identified the affected barangays of Bacayan, Pit-os, San Jose, and Pulangbato.
In Bacayan, a total of 109 families were affected with 433 partially listed individuals.
The four sitios of the barangay affected by the flooding were Sitio Common with 57 families and 246 individuals; Sitio Sugarlandia with 40 families and 126 partial number of individuals, Sitio Upper with four families and 25 individuals, and Sitio Lower with eight families and 36 individuals.
At least 25 families with 110 individuals were affected in Sitio Tabok Metropolis, Barangay Pit-os wherein of the 25 houses affected, one was totally damaged and 24 were partially damaged.
The flooding in Barangay San Jose has affected a total of 69 families and 329 individuals with nine totally damaged houses.
Of the 69 families, 36 are from Purok 5 with 185 individuals while 33 are from Purok 1 with 144 individuals.
In Purok 5, six houses were totally damaged while three in Purok 1.
In Barangay Pulangbato, 50 families with 324 individuals were affected and eight families with 29 individuals in Sitio Gangan while 26 houses were partially damaged.
Ayuman said they are yet to provide the amount of the total damages.
"Wa pa gyud ta makahatag og assessment sa pila kay sa pagkakaron ang needs sa sa mga pagkaon sa mga victims, evacuees. Kay gipang-pullout mani nato," said Ayuman.
"Naa nato gipangbutang sa barangays. Sila nama'y ni-identify. Automatic mana ang mga eskwelahan ug sa mga barangay gym, pero kasagaran naa sa eskwelahan... Depende na unya na sa pag-assess sa atong DSWS nga mohatag ba sila'g financial aid, but kasagaran mohatag gyud na'g financial aid ug housing materials," he added.
Ayuman together with some city personnel met with the officials of the barangays affected yesterday to address their respective concerns.
It was earlier reported that a landslide also occurred in barangays Babag and Sapangdaku.
Personnel from the CDRRMO are closely monitoring places vulnerable to landslides and floods.
The local government has mobilized various emergency rescue teams for quick deployment in cases of emergency this rainy season. — GMR (FREEMAN)
