GenSan’s 22nd Tuna Festival goes digital with TNT

The local government of GenSan will instead celebrate this year's festival with exciting online activities and shows.

MANILA, Philippines — Mobile services provider TNT is helping keep the fun in the 22nd Tuna Festival alive this year as it partners with the local government of GenSan in taking the celebrations online from Aug. 29 to Sept. 15. 

As one of the most anticipated events in Mindanao every year, the Tuna Festival attracts thousands of guests to the “Tuna Capital of the Philippines” for the colorful parades, cultural shows, and talent competitions. Its main highlight is the annual Karagatan Awards, which honors the unsung heroes of the fishing industry. 

To keep everyone safe amid the pandemic, the local government of GenSan will instead celebrate this year's festival with exciting online activities and shows, which will be livestreamed on four official Facebook pages, including the TNT official Facebook page. 

The festival will kick off on Aug. 29 with the unveiling of the official Tuna Festival 2020 billboard at the Plaza Heneral Santos. For its part, TNT has lined up the following fun activities:  

  • Sept. 1 to 8: TNT  TikTok Challenge 
  • Sept. 1 to 5: TNT Saya Mo, Video Mo Challenge  
  • Sept. 4 to 5 and Sept. 11 to 12: TNT Live Concert featuring The Return Band  
  • Sept. 12 to 13:  Online Zumba with Legendz instructors  

TNT subscribers can enjoy and share all these online activities with TNT Free Stories For All.
