CEBU, Philippines —  Due to the influx of applicants, the Cebu City Police Office is extending until next week the hiring of civilians to become members of the city police force multipliers.

CCPO director Col. Josefino Ligan said this is also to give time to all the applicants to comply with the requirements.

“Sa kaganinang buntag ug bisan gahapon, daghan na’ng nanawag, ang gi-set up nato nga shop diri ubay-ubay na sab ang nangari, ang uban nagpangutana na sab sa requirements, amo ra pud sila gi-guide,” Ligan said.

The police have initially scheduled the hiring of applicants for the “Task Force Kasaligan” until Sunday. However, Ligan said the applicants need more time to comply the requirements.

“Kay ang pagkuha sa ilang medical certificate, ilang transcript of records, diploma, it will take time, so we will be extending it until next week,” said Ligan.

Successful applicants will be receiving a minimum pay of P370 per day. They will be working with the police from September to December. The CCPO is looking at 200 force multipliers to help them enforce the quarantine protocols in the city.

These people will be tapped in doing the series of “rekorida,” monitoring in the barangays, and apprehending violators of the quarantine protocols with the supervision of a police officer.

Ligan explained that this is also in preparation once other police offices and units will be pulled out from their deployment in Cebu City.

As of yesterday morning, the CCPO was able to cater more or less 100 applicants. Only up to 200 applicants ages 21 to 35, preferably with bachelor’s degree in criminology, will be accepted. — FPL (FREEMAN)
