CEBU, Philippines — Santa Fe town on Bantayan Island, Cebu lifted its border restrictions yesterday, three days after it implemented stricter border measures.
Mayor Ithamar Espinosa issued yesterday Executive Order (EO) No. 29 lifting strict border restrictions placed at entry and exit points to and from its neighboring Bantayan town.
He made the order after security measures were put in place to contain the further spread of the virus in Bantayan town.
“As of July 31, 2020, our neighboring municipality declared that they are doing everything to contain or prevent the spread of the deadly COVID-19,” the EO read.
“With such declaration, I hereby lift EO 28 effective immediately,” it added.
On July 28, Mayor Ithamar Espinosa closed the town’s borders after the reported local transmission of COVID-19 in Bantayan town.
