In Cebu City ECQ violators to do community service
CEBU, Philippines — A total of 233 Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) violators from July 6 to July 9 were made to do community service.
As a penalty for violating the ECQ guidelines and protocols, some of the violators were made to clean up by collecting the garbage at the coastal area of the South Road Properties (SRP).
Raquel Arce, head of the Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification, and Enhancement (PROBE) team, clarified that usually those apprehended are tasked to render community service.
“(About) 233 for community service alone starting afternoon of July 6 until July 9. Dili tanan madakpan ipa-community service, kay kung madakpan ka sa gabii dili naka maka-community service so diri lang ka sa plaza mag-physical exercise,” said Arce.
Each violator will have to render two hours, either for community service at the SRP or at Carbon Public Market, or physical exercise at the Plaza Independencia. There are also seminars held in the plaza for the violators.
Meanwhile, the senior citizens and minors are just ordered to stay in the plaza until the time that they are allowed to go, and they will not be asked to do community service.
However, the minors will only be allowed to go home if their parents will fetch them.
“Ang halos 80 percent sa madakpan kay coding, wa ba sila kahibaw sa coding or nag pa wala sila kahibaw - mura ba og excuse nagtuo sila na makalusot sila. Ang gasunod na porsyento kay way gyud sila’y ECQ pass,” said Arce.
The city government assigned each barangay a QR code, which will also determine the days the residents are allowed to leave their barangay — Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for QR code ending with odd numbers, while Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday for those with even and zero numbers.
Arce said that first time offenders are only made to do these punishments and are made to explain. A case will be filed for the second time offenders. GAN (FREEMAN)
