CEBU, Philippines — A high number of COVID-19 infections have been recorded in Cebu City for four consecutive days now since easing up to general community quarantine (GCQ) status on June 1.
The Cebu City Health Department reported 105 additional cases and one fatality yesterday. It was the fourth highest number of recorded infections in a single day under GCQ. Since June 7, the city’s daily cases have reached the hundredth mark.
The CCHD’s latest report shows that the most cases recorded yesterday are from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penoplogy (BJMP), 10; Barangay Lorega, 8; Barangay Basak San Nicolas, 7.
There were six cases each reported from Barangays Carreta and Labangon while Barangay Mabolo logged five new cases. Barangays Capitol Site, Guadalupe, Kalunasan, Sambag 2, and Tisa reported four cases each.
There were also three cases each from Barangays Calamba, Camputhaw, Pardo, and San Roque. Barangays Luz, Cogon Ramos, Inayawan, Lahug, Mambaling, Pahina, T. Padilla, Tejero, and Tinago reported two cases each. While one each in Barangays Apas, Basak Pardo, Buhisan, Bulacao, Day-as, Kalubihan, Kasambagan, Kinasang-an, Pasil, Pulang Bato, Punta, Quiot, and Talamban.
The new reported cases bring to 3,194 the total number of COVID-19 patients in Cebu City. CCHD said there were three new recoveries yesterday bringing the total to 1,722 the total patients who recovered from the viral infection.
The new recoveries are from Barangays Ermita, Mabolo, and Mambaling. FPL (FREEMAN)
