Cebu City records 40 new COVID-19 cases

CEBU, Philippines — Forty more residents of Cebu City had tested positive of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) yesterday.

Majority of those who tested positive are from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Barangay Kalunasan.  They had nine cases.

The new cases brought to 381 the total number of affected persons who are deprived of liberty.

The other new positive cases in the city are from Barangay Luz (4); Barangay Punta Princesa (4), three from Barangay Camputhaw; and three from Barangay Labangon.

Barangays Duljo Fatima, Pasil, Mambaling, Guadalupe, and Sambag 2 have two cases each.

Barangays Bacayan, Calamba, Sawang Calero, San Nicolas Proper, Sambag 1, Suba, and Bulacao have one case each.

As of yesterday, the total number of positive cases in Cebu City has already reached 1,844.

The City Health Department (CHD) also announced two recoveries yesterday. These bring to 116 the total number of recovered patients in the city.

Meanwhile, out of the 85 swabs taken from the Province of Cebu yesterday, seven had tested positive. Governor Gwendolyn Garcia announced this yesterday during her virtual press briefing.

In the province’s district and provincial hospitals, there are four admitted Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) cases and 12 admitted Influenza-Like Illness cases.

Cebu Province has 83 COVID-19 cases.  GAN (FREEMAN)
