100 Liloan town families get assistance from PRO-7
CEBU, Philippines — At least 100 poor families from Barangay San Vicente, Liloan yesterday received relief assistance from Police Regional Office-7.
The relief operations dubbed as ‘Kapwa ko,Sagot ko’ was led by PRO-7 Director Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro himself.
“The less capable families were chosen to receive aning atong ayuda, ma-balance nato kay those who are capable naa pa silay pamaagi pero kining mga less capable ato ni silang gitabangan,” Ferro told reporters.
He said the money spent for the operation was contributed by the personnel of PRO-7. This is on top of the P11 million that they have contributed to the Bayanihan 200 million challenge of the Philippine National Police.
Each of the chosen family beneficiaries received bags of goods like vegetables, canned goods, instant noodles, and five kilos of rice. Ferro said the vegetables were sourced from Dalaguete town, the vegetable basket of Cebu Province.
As of yesterday, the PRO-7 has already distributed relief assistance to 24,000 families across Central Visayas.
“We have been doing this for the last two months naa tay mga adopt a family, our police stations have been adopting indigents to (lessen) the hardships that they have this time,” Ferro said.
Jennette Tugalon,46, one of the beneficiaries from Liloan, was grateful to the PNP for the assistance her family received yesterday.
“Salamat kaayo sa grasya, naa ray niingon namo nga naay manghatag namo diri, gipaari mi. Dako kaayo ni’g tabang kay utanon baya ni,” she said.
