CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office has warned the public that anyone drunk found outside of his residence will still be arrested even if consumption of alcoholic beverages are already allowed in private.
CCPO director Col. JosefinoLigan said that going out of one’s residence intoxicated is still covered by the new executive order issued by Mayor Edgardo Labella extending the enhanced community quarantine until May 15.
"Now if ever mogawassilaunyahubogsila, that's another story. Meaning we will impose the disobedience sa article kay it clearly violates the executive order again, so we will make arrest,"Ligan said.
Under Labella’s Executive Order 71, selling of liquor and consumption of liquor is already allowed provided that no drinking in public places. The liquor ban is still in effect but only covers public places.
"Di gyudsilapwedemogawassailangbalaynganakainom, kung makainom man galididtoragyudsiladapatsailangbalaymagpahungawsailangkahubog," Ligan said.
He explained thatthe intention of the order is to allow leisure drinking only inside the house. Those who will be caught outside under the influence of liquor will be facing charges for drunkenness and violation of the ECQ.
Ligan asked those who are planning to indulge themselves in alcoholic drinks to practice moderation.
Meanwhile, CCPO gas deployed 37 police personnel to secure SitioCallejon in Barangay Labangon where an increase in the number of COVID-19 positive patients has been reported.
Ligan said thedeployment is to make sure that the residents in the affected area will adhere to the lockdown imposed by the barangay and the city government.
Ligan said the situation is still under control with the residents also cooperating with the government. The latest report shows that Labangon has already a total of 124 cases, most of them are from sitioCallejon. FPL (FREEMAN)
