CEBU, Philippines — Two persons—a senior citizen and a person with disability— died in separate fire incidents in Cebu City and Alcantara town, Cebu.
Rosita Ponce, 74, was charred to death after her house located in Sitio Lower Banika, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City was razed by fire at around 11:30 p.m. on April 8.
Initial investigation showed that the fire started from the house of Ponce.
The fire quickly spread to six neighboring houses.
Damage was pegged at P240,000.
The fire was razed to second alarm at 11:46 p.m., was placed under control at 2:16 a.m., and was officially declared fire out at 2:26 a.m.
Alcantara incident
On Good Friday, on the other hand, 49-year-old Blesila Macasaol also died in a fire in Alcantara town.
Macasaol, a resident of Barangay Pulo, Alcantara, was reportedly mute and mentally challenged.
A fire alarm was first received by the Dumanjug Fire Station at 4:05 p.m. and was declared fire out at 4:15 pm.
Authorities pegged the damage to property at P10,000.
The causes of the separate fire incidents are yet to be determined. KQD (FREEMAN)
