Iris Hazel M. Mascardo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Around P7.5 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated by the personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-7 and the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) in two separate buy-bust operations in Cebu City.

The elements of the CCPO have conducted the operation at Sitio IKP, Villagonzalo 1, Barangay Tejero, Cebu City at around 2 p.m. yesterday that resulted in the arrest of two suspects who are considered high-value targets.

They were identified as Thomas Florita Circujano, 31, and Reynaldo Ygot Capangpangan, 37.

Seized from them were more than a kilo of suspected shabu with estimated value of P7.2 million and a .9mm pistol with one magazine loaded with four bullets.

Police Major Joemar Pomarejos, Waterfront Police Station chief, said they have received information from their previous arrests that their suppliers come from the area of Barangay Tejero, specifically from Circujano.

With the information, the authorities have conducted a week-long surveillance and found that Circujano could dispose up to 50 grams of shabu every week.

Pomarejos said that Circujano was the original subject of the bust, however, they have also arrested Capangpangan upon seeing him in the area with Circujano.

Capangpangan reportedly could dispose of up to 300 to 400 grams of suspected shabu per week that made him also a high-value target in the regional level.

At present, police investigation is still ongoing to determine if both of the suspects were indeed part of the Ygot illegal drug group.

Meanwhile, the PDEA-7 has also conducted another drug bust group at the Dead End Sun Valley, V. Rama Avenue, Barangay Calamba, Cebu City, on the same day that led to the arrest of Charles Ian Jasper Nadela, 21, and Joyced Clarence Nadela Guzman, 22.

Both suspects are students and residents of the area.

Confiscated from them was P340,000 worth of illegal drugs weighing about 50 grams.

The suspects were monitored for three days in a case build-up where it was found out that they could allegedly dispose up to one kilo per week.  GAN (FREEMAN)
