CEBU, Philippines — The alleged policeman who was photographed sprawling on the road drunk with his firearm exposed from his waist will face investigation, the Police Regional Office-7 said.
As of yesterday, PRO-7 Deputy Director for Administration Brigadier Ildebrandi Usana said they have not identified the policeman who was pictured along R. Landon Street in Barangay Santa Cruz, Cebu City on Friday night.
But he said that if it was true that the person in the viral photo was a cop, then the latter will be placed under administrative investigation.
The man’s photo comes at a time authorities are implementing a gun ban in Cebu City for the Sinulog celebration. According to the rules, even policemen wearing civilian attire will face sanctions if they are found to be bringing firearms.
PRO-7 will file a case against the cop and the same may face either suspension or dismissal from service depending on the results of the investigation.
Apart from that, the cop may also face a case for public scandal if it be proven that he was indeed drunk.
He may also be disarmed it be also proven that he was irresponsibly bearing his firearm at the time of the incident.
Usana said his office is still coordinating with Abellana Police Station to see if the incident had been put on police blotter. JMD (FREEMAN)
