CEBU, Philippines — Waterworld Cebu will open its door to Cebuanos and the rest of the world on Saturday, December 14, following a soft opening yesterday.
The three-hectare waterpark, the biggest in Central Visayas, is located in Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City, just below the Marcelo Fernan Bridge. The park features 10 extreme adrenaline rush slides and nine slides for kids.
The water playground has 14 different animals made of fiberglass, a lazy river and a 1,800-square meter wave pool capable of creating waves up to one meter high and can accommodate 1,500 people at the same time.
EJ Camarista, Waterworld Cebu general manager, said that all guests of the park are insured.
Camarista said they have lifeguards on standby and medical teams to ensure everyone are safe while having fun.
“Although we have lifeguards, we are reminding parents that lifeguards are not babysitters. Supervisions of children are parents’ responsibility,” said Frances Aimee Tiu, general manager of Waterworld Iloilo and the one handling the Food and Beverages of Waterworld Cebu.
Mariano Dandie Dimataga, senior sales manager of Waterworld Cebu, said that aside from waterslides, the waterpark also caters to various functions like birthdays, company outing, and other special occasions.
The waterpark has air-conditioned aqua suites, rentable tables, and a function room that can accommodate 200 persons.
Tiu, who is also a chef, said the waterpark has “Food World” wherein Japanese, Chinese, Korean, American, and Filipino cuisines are served. It also has fastfood and pastries available.
Camarista added that from December 14, 2019 to January 5, 2020, the waterpark is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm and will be on a promote rate of P500 per person on weekends and P400 on weekdays. The park’s regular rate is P1,000 per head. (FREEMAN)
