Cebu centenarians to receive P100,000 from provincial government
CEBU, Philippines — A heftier cash gift from the Cebu provincial government awaits centenarians in the province.
According to a report from Sugbo TV, the official public information site of the provincial government, cash gift for residents who have reached one hundred years old and above will have one hundred percent increase.
From P50,000, centenarians in the province will now receive P100,000, the same amount centenarians nationwide receive from the national government as stated under Centenarian’s Act of 2016.
This means that centenarians in the province are entitled to receive a total of P200,000 from the Capitol and the national government.
The cash gift serves to pay tribute to centenarians who have lived through the nation’s history and had contributed to its progress.
Sugbo TV also reported that during the first round of deliberations for next year’s budget of the province, it was discussed that the increase in cash gift will be sourced from the P289.86 million proposed budget for the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
The proposed budget for the PSWDO has increased 83.94% from the current P157.59 million.
At present, six centenarians have received the increased cash gifts. They come from the municipalities of Barili, Borbon, Carmen and Liloan and the cities of Talisay and Bogo. (FREEMAN)
