CEBU, Philippines — Former Cebu City Councilor Margot Osmeña has assured that her husband, former mayor Tomas Osmeña, is fine as she shot down rumors that he has died.
"He is very alive," said Margot.
She said Tomas is confined at a Mandaue hospital for urinary tract infection (UTI).
"He's fine. He has an infection that is being treated. It's nothing like threatening. In fact, I'm at home. If it was something critical, I'd be there," she said.
Margot said the former mayor's "strength is back and he is already asking for a certain food."
She also thanked those who were concerned and offered their prayers for her husband.
Margot said Tomas was rushed to the hospital last Wednesday after he felt weak and lost his appetite.
He has undergone blood testing which depicted that he was suffering from UTI.
Margot said that it was the doctors' decision to admit Tomas in the hospital.
"He is responding very well. Hopefully, mga pila ka adlaw na lang, makagawas na siya," said Margot.
Margot visited the Osmeña mausoleum at the Doña Pepang Cemetery in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City yesterday morning.
Maria Victoria “Minnie” Osmeña, the elder sister of Tomas, was also with her during the visit.
They brought flowers, lighted candles, and offered prayers for their departed family members who are buried at the mausoleum.
Relatives entombed at the Doña Pepang Cemetery included former senator Sergio Osmeña Jr. and his mother, Doña Estefania Chiong Veloso de Osmeña. GAN (FREEMAN)
