Fire hits school, homes in Lapu-Lapu
CEBU, Philippines — The library and principal’s office of a school and 15 houses were damaged by a fire that erupted dawn yesterday in Sitio Matumbo, Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City.
Senior Fire Officer 1 Hadjiloden Samonte of Lapu-Lapu City Fire Station is looking at electrical ignition by lost connection as the possible cause to the fire that was said to have begun at Pusok National High School.
Samonte said that the fire damaged the principal’s office and the school library.
The classrooms were spared from the fire due to the timely arrival of the firefighters.
The fire broke out at 3:15 in the morning yesterday and was put under control at 4:10 in the morning and was declared fire out at 7:00 in the morning.
The damage was estimated at P550,000. No one was reported injured or hurt during the incident.
Samonte added that they are still conducting further investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
The fire, which was raised to Task Force Alpha, prompted the fire stations from Consolacion, Cordova, Mandaue City to respond. — JMD (FREEMAN)
