CEBU, Philippines — A son of former senator and hailed father of Cebu City Vicente Rama, Osmundo Rama was a physician, who entered politics as a two-term councilor of Cebu City.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas and passed the board exams in 1934. He also later acquired a law degree from the University of San Carlos.

In 1969, he succeeded Rene Espina as governor of Cebu after the latter resigned from office to prepare his campaign for the Senate. During his term, Rama prioritized education and agriculture by creating rural livelihood projects and supporting training programs for farmers. He also enhanced the provincial high schools in Dalaguete and Naga. (FREEMAN)
