CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Police Office City Director Colonel Royina Garma will retire from service after she is appointed to hold a high-ranking position in the government.
In an interview, Garma said she has yet to receive her appointment documents and she also refused to reveal the position and the office.
But Cebu City Advisory Council Chairman and Councilor Joel Garganera said in his social media post Garma is appointed to be the next General Manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
“I pay a visit this morning to our CCPO Police Dir. Royina Garma, in 2 weeks’ time it will be a courtesy call to the Head Office of the General Manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). Abangan!” Garganera said in his post.
Police Regional Office-7 director Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas said they have yet to receive an order on Garma’s replacement.
Garma was the first female police officer to hold the position of CCPO director.
She assumed office in July 2018 replacing Police Colonel Joel Doria.
Recently, Garma has intensified programs against illegal gambling in the city.
One of these is the ‘no usher zone’ program that targets to apprehend ushers for Small Time Lottery (STL) because it was found that they also remit to illegal gambling operators.
