CEBU, Philippines — The camp of governor-elect Gwendolyn Garcia could not confirm if she will attend the ceremonial turnover of the governor position on June 28.
The date reportedly coincides with her formal oath-taking Garcia as the new governor of Cebu.
Garcia’s league of lawyers, which composes her transition team, said that the important events – the June 28 oath taking and June 30 inaugural ball – are still being finalized.
Previously, there were reservations that Garcia might not make it to the turnover ceremony in the morning of June 28 because there will also be a Mass for her oath-taking rites at the same time, but on a different venue.
The camp of outgoing governor Hilario Davide III, on the other hand, has set June 28 as the formal turnover of the governor position to Garcia at the Capitol Social Hall. The activity will start at 10 a.m.
On June 24, the 14th Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board) will hold its last regular session.
During the session is the scheduled turnover of the vice governor position of predecessor Agnes Magpale to Davide.
Magpale is expected to deliver a message, and will grace the ceremonial turnover of gavel to Davide at the session hall at 2 p.m.
The Provincial Board’s weekly session happens every Monday.
The succeeding Monday, July 1, will be the inaugural session of the 15th PB. — GAN (FREEMAN)
