CEBU, Philippines — Outgoing Cebu Provincial Board Members Sun Shimura and ex-officio Board Member Earl Tidy Oyas will move out of the august body as the top legislators who had passed the most resolutions in the 14th Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
Based on the data from the Provincial Secretary, Oyas has passed more than 400 resolutions from 2016 to 2019.
Provincial Secretary Pulchra Marie Acevedo said most of the resolutions that Oyas had passed are commendations and recognition of the police force for their successful anti-illegal drug operations.
Oyas would no longer be joining the new set of PB members, as he just recently won as vice mayor of Catmon, Cebu.
Sun Shimura, for his part, has passed more than 200 resolutions; authored more than 200 committee reports and had passed three approved ordinances.
Shimura will also leave the PB, as he was just elected as mayor of Daanbantayan, Cebu.
Meanwhile, outgoing Vice Governor Agnes Magpale had also authored more than 100 committee reports and almost 200 resolutions. She has also passed eight ordinances in the last three years.
The data may still go up, since the provincial board would still have regular sessions until June 24.
As a legislator way back 1992, Magpale has already passed close to 3,000 resolutions; more than 300 committee reports and 61 ordinances, as a board member and as vice governor.
Acevedo said that there would be recognition rites for the outgoing members of the 14th Sangguniang Panlalawigan on June 24. (FREEMAN)
