CEBU, Philippines — Almost 5,000 regular and casual employees of the Cebu City government have a reason to rejoice as their midyear bonus is set to be released within the week.
Assistant City Administrator Annabeth Cuizon said the executive department is now processing the release of the midyear bonus of City Hall employees and elected officials.
“The midyear bonus is equivalent to their one month salary,” she told The FREEMAN.
Cuizon said she has started signing the payrolls of the employees yesterday.
She said some of the employees have received their bonus yesterday, while other employees will receive their bonus within the week.
Under the budget circular of the Department of Budget and Management, the bonus of government employees and officials will be given to the employees not earlier than May 15.
City Budget Officer Marietta Gumia said the city allocated P103.8 million for the midyear bonus, which was included in this year’s Annual Budget.
All City Hall departments and offices are required to submit complete documents to the Office of the City Accountant before the release of the bonus.
Only those casual workers who have rendered four months of service are entitled to receive the bonus, meaning those who were hired from October last year to January this year.
Gumia said employees who have not received satisfactory rating from the department heads will not also receive the bonus.
She added that the satisfactory rating is required as it is the policy of the current administration.
As for the employees who have low ratings, she said the bonus is yet to be determined. — KBQ (FREEMAN)
