CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) asked the drivers to observe proper parking to avoid traffic obstruction on Election Day.
CCTO operations chief Francisco Ouano told The FREEMAN that they would allow drivers to park along the road as long as they could not hamper the traffic.
“Maximum tolerance ta kay kahibaw man gyud ta nga tungod sa kadaghan sa mobotar, dili estriktohon karon,” Ouano said. (We will observe maximum tolerance because we understand that many people will go out to vote.)
Around 500 traffic enforcers will be deployed in areas near the polling centers to monitor and man the traffic situation.
Among the barangays in the city that have large voting population are Guadalupe, Lahug, Banilad and Basak San Nicolas.
Ouano said the traffic will be manageable since the voting period is from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Further, he said that the Natalio Bacalso Avenue underpass is temporarily available to private vehicles starting midnight of Saturday until midnight of Monday to alleviate the traffic in the south district. — MBG (FREEMAN)
