CEBU, Philippines — Police officers and police units will receive cash incentives from Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) for their outstanding performance.

Chief Superintendent Debold Sinas, director of PRO-7, said that cash incentives are the least he can do to boost the morale of his men.

He said that as a commander, they have to face waves of challenges following criticisms in their campaign against illegal drugs.

"In my six months here I am very happy that PRO-7 is able to accomplish a lot in anti-illegal drug operations and a decrease on all crimes, except murder and homicide," he said.

A individual awardee will receive P5,000 and P15,000 for unit awardee.

Nine individuals, three units from CPPO headquarters and the whole Pardo and Guadalupe police stations are the recipients of the award.

During his speech, Sinas told his men to take off their caps showing their shaved head.

Sinas said 99 percent of his men have complied with his order to have their hair shaved which shows that police can follow orders.

"It is a very simple order and everybody followed. It shows na dito sa PRO7, even a simple order is being followed. That's why I can assure everybody that PRO-7 is one. This was a test kung tayong lahat ay sumusunod ng orders without any questions, so long that it is valid and legal," Sinas said.

During his speech he also revealed that the soundtrack of the famous Japanese animation Voltes V is played during operations not just to entertain but to send a message because the song in English means bolting all forces for a common goal.

"It tells camaraderie, cooperation, coordination of the team. Pag sinabi na Voltes V, everybody aligns, everybody goes in one direction," he said.

Sinas said instead of putting the blame to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) for the continued proliferation of cellphones used in illegal drug transactions even in jail, it is better to formulate strategies and work together. (FREEMAN)
