Christell Fatima M. Tudtud - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The borderlines of the Lapu-Lapu City will be soon guarded by policemen, an initiative that will help prevent crimes as well as to hinder the escape of perpetrators.

Senior Superintendent Limuel Obon, director of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO), said that they are following a memorandum from the national headquarters which is to secure the borderline.

"It is a compliance sa directives from our headquarters.  We will secure our respective boundaries nato. To give a feeling of security for the people," Obon said.

The exit and entry points of the city such as the ports, the two bridges, as well as the borderline going to Cordova town will be secured.

The Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) will also be part of the areas to be provided with security, according to Obon.

"Mga dunggoanan, all entry and exits, including our boundaries going to Cordova," Obon said.

The City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) of the LCPO will be tapped for this directive, as they are the appropriate personnel to look after the safety of the city residents.

If a perpetrator plans to escape after he committed a crime and has evaded security checkpoints on the road, Obon explained that the CMFC can help contain them by closing its borders.

"Because we are guiding our borderlines, it is the responsibility of the mobile force company to secure our borders. Sila ang appropriate forces by law, sila ang tugma nga force nga ibutang nato diha," Obon said.

The personnel from CMFC will be stationed on those areas for 24 hours every day.

"It must be 24 hours, and shifting sila," Obon added.

He has yet to know as to how many of the CMFC personnel will be deployed. Under LCPO, about 400 personnel are assigned.

He, however, said that this is also their way of maximizing the police visibility in the city. (FREEMAN)
