Over 1,000 jobs up for grabs this week

CEBU, Philippines — Over a thousand job vacancies for overseas employment are up for grabs during a one-day job fair at the Capitol on Sunday, July 8.

Job destinations include Japan, China, Dubai, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and Kuwait.

Skilled workers like electricians, painters, and welders are on top of the demand list.

There are also vacancies for hotel and restaurant workers, such as receptionists, housekeeping staff, and service crew/waiter, among others.

The job fair will start at 8 in the morning.

The provincial government said only Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA)-accredited agencies can participate in the event to ensure legitimacy of the job offerings.

For the second time this year, the Capitol partnered with POEA and the Department of Labor and Employment for the conduct of a job fair.

The first one was in March.

Interested applicants are advised to bring their updated resume or bio-data, 2x2 pictures, and diploma or transcript of records (TOR).

If an applicant is currently employed, an employment certificate from the employer must also be submitted.

The pre-registration for the job fair is still ongoing. It started on May 2.

Interested applicants may still register at the Capitol’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) on or before July 8.

As of June 27, a total of 599 applicants have registered.

On July 6, an advance screening will take place to prioritize the pre-registered applicants.

Aside from the job fair, “one-stop shop” will also be established at the Capitol Social Hall.

Individuals who wish to process their documents from national agencies like the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and the Social Security System (SSS) can do so.

Representatives from the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office will also be there for those who want to avail of free legal services. (FREEMAN)
