CEBU, Philippines — There will be a traffic rerouting on some streets in Cebu City at 5 p.m. to 12 midnight today to accommodate the annual Gabii sa Kabilin.
Cebu City Transport Office, Traffic Patrol Group and Cebu City Police Office announced that the affected streets include E. Aboitiz St./Lopez Jaena St. (from Mabini St. to M. J. Cuenco Ave.); Mabini St. (from corner Bonifacio St. up to Urdaneta St.);P. Burgos St. (from V. Gullas St. up to M. C. Briones St.); Colon St. (from D. Jakosalem St. up to Mabini St.); Osmeña Boulevard (from D. Jakosalem St. to Lapu-Lapu St.).
Gabii sa Kabilin or Night of Heritage is an annual event in Cebu held every last Friday of May.
It is now on its 12th year and the theme this year is "Balangay" featuring museums and heritage sites in Cebu City.
All vehicles passing Colon St. from Leon Kilat St. will have no access to Mabini St. PUJs shall turn left to D Jakosalem St. then to their destination while those PUJs bound for SM City must right turn to Imus Road, go straight to Imus New Road, then to their destination.
Private vehicles may take Osmeña Boulevard or D. Jakosalem St.
All vehicles from Sikatuna St. bound for Colon St. shall turn right to Zamora St. then to Sanciangko St. or right turn to D. Jakosalem St. then to their destination.
All vehicles taking Isagani St. shall turn left to Mabini St. then to their destination.
All PUJs bound for SM City or North Reclamation Area taking Junquera St. and P. del Rosario St. shall go straight to Imus St., right turn to Sikatuna St., left turn to T. Padilla St. then to their destination.
Motorists, drivers and other road users are advised to follow the traffic signs that will be installed on the rerouting area.
Atty. Ismael Garaygay, head of CCTO, said they already prepared schedules and assignments of personnel in the different routes.
