Man nabbed for transporting butane canisters

CEBU, Philippines — A 26-year-old driver of a multicab who asked for help from a policeman after he figured in a traffic accident was arrested as he was found to be carrying almost P17, 000 worth of Butane canisters.

The man identified as Manuel Dalocanog asked for police assistance from the Traffic Police of Liloan after his multicab was allegedly hit by a motorcycle along the national highway of Barangay Yati, Liloan, Cebu yesterday morning.

But according to Police Chief Inspector Randy Korret, Liloan Police chief, the policemen saw in his vehicle 38 plastic cases with almost 1,000 butane canisters inside.

Dalocanog was asked to present a permit from the Department of Energy allowing him to transport the items but he failed to show any document.

Dalocanog was arrested and is now detained in Liloan Police pending filing of charges for the violation of Presidential Decree 1865 which prohibits the selling of unregulated petroleum products. (FREEMAN)
