Girl, 12, dies in Mandaue shooting
CEBU, Philippines — Two died, including a 12-year-old girl, while one was injured in separate shooting incidents in Mandaue City and Balamban town yesterday and last Sunday.
In the Mandaue City shooting, victim Kay Tony Recania and her companion, Edwin Pepito, 17, were rushed to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for treatment but the girl died due to a gunshot wound to the left side of her head.
Pepito, of Barangay Mantuyong, sustained gunshot wounds to his right leg.
According to the police, the teenagers were hanging out with friends at the back of a mall in Barangay Alang-Alang when an unidentified gunman fired shots at them at around 3:30 a.m.
In Balamban town, a construction worker was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen while on his way home in Barangay Cantuod Sunday evening.
The victim was identified as Selvando Aguanta, 46, a resident of the place.
Police Officer 3 Emanuel Blones, investigator of the case, said that the victim came from a drinking session in his neighbor's house.
While on his way home with his wife, two unidentified men shot at them several times.
Aguanta sustained several gunshot wounds to different parts of his body resulting in his instantaneous death while his wife was unharmed.
The gunmen immediately fled to unknown direction using a motorcycle.
Blones said that they are eyeing personal grudge as possible motive of the attack. (FREEMAN)
