13 nabbed, P1M drugs seized on Holy Week

CEBU, Philippines — At least 13 persons were arrested and almost P1 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate police operations in Metro Cebu during the Holy Week.

In Lapu-Lapu City, anti-drug operatives seized P330,400 worth of drugs from two men in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Pusok Wednesday afternoon.

Chief Inspector Jaime Tolentino of Pusok Police Station said they arrested Aaron Dela Cerna, 24, and his alleged cohort, Jessie Baduya Gomez, 34, at around 5 p.m.  Both are residents of Block 4, Sitio Seawage, Barangay Pusok.

Seized from Dela Cerna were two small sachets and a large pack of suspected shabu while another two small packs were confiscated from Gomez all weighing about 28 grams.

The P600 believed to be proceeds from the illegal activity was also confiscated.

Tolentino said Gomez and Dela Cerna are not drug surrenderers and are newly-identified drug personalities.

Consolacion

In Consolacion town, Florencio 'Baboybaboy' Abatayo Jr., 35, a former drug surrenderer, was nabbed during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Lamac on Black Saturday.

Police Chief Inspector Gerard Ace Pelare, Consolacion Police Station chief, said the suspect has surrendered before but they received reports from the community that he returned to his illegal business.

They conducted a buy-bust operation against Abatayo which resulted in the confiscation of two medium packs and three small packs of suspected shabu weighing 11 grams worth P129,800.

Talisay City

In Talisay City, police seized around P80,000 worth of shabu from four suspected drug peddlers in separate drug operations Saturday evening.

At around 7 p.m., police conducted a buy-bust operation in Sitio Molave, Barangay Tabunok and arrested Junrell Ababon, 22, a resident of the said place.

Seized from him were 27 small packs and one medium pack of suspected shabu while his cohort, Junson Abrenica, 25, was also arrested for allegedly having in his possession 13 small packs of suspected shabu.

They also spotted Adison Suello, 55, who was allegedly acting suspicious. When checked, they seized from him four small packs of shabu.

At around 10:30 p.m., police conducted a checkpoint on Rabaya St., Barangay Cansojong.

They arrested Junrell Repuela, 32, of Lawaan 1, after he was caught having in his possession one pack of suspected shabu.

Carbonquillo said the four are considered as newly identified drug personalities.

The drugs seized from the four suspects have an estimated value of P82,300.

Cebu City

In Cebu City, Carbon policemen arrested Ginalyn Labrador, 34, in a buy-bust operation in Saturday Sitio Bato, Barangay Ermita.

They recovered from her possession a coin purse containing two medium packs of suspected shabu weighing 14 grams worth P165,200.

In Barangay Suba, operatives of the City Intelligence Branch and City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Eduardo Josur, alias “Eddie,” 47; Romulo Lerma, alias “Jun-Jun,” 34, and Jeno Sabal, 18, all residents of Belgium Street, Barangay Suba.

They are considered as newly-identified drug personalities.

Seized from the suspects were 31 small sachets of suspected shabu weighing 3.16 grams worth P37,788 pesos.

A Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver was seized from Lerma.

In Barangay Kamagayan, members of Pari-an Police Station arrested Shiela Barotolome, 37 and Juep Alcuntin, 38, at Citi Center.

Both suspects were caught having in their possession four packs of shabu worth P8,000 and several illegal drug paraphernalia.

Yesterday, police arrested Risquer Veraque, 36, who yielded nine grams of suspected shabu worth P106, 200 in Baranagy Lorega San Miguel.  —Ermida Q. Moradas,  Iris Mariani B. Algabre (FREEMAN)
