Carcar City to build P35M police office

Iris Mariani B. Algabre - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Carcar City Police Station will soon have a new building worth P35 million in Barangay Poblacion 3.

City Mayor Nicepuro Apura said that the building's plan is already completed and this will sit on a 500-square meter lot.

He said he wanted to provide his policemen a new and spacious building while the present police station located in Poblacion 1 will be converted into a sub-station.

The new location is also more accessible to the constituents and is only a few meters away from the city hall.

Yesterday, Apura together with city officials visited the site.

The project is now on bidding process.

The construction will be done in two phases.

Apura expects that on July 7, during the city's charter day celebration, the first phase which is the ground floor will be finished.

Police Chief Superintendent Gregorio Galsim said they are thankful that the local government supports the city police by providing a new building.

He said that the current station is too small considering that he has 52 police personnel.

They also need a new lock up facility. (FREEMAN)
