Ex-military man detained for harassing receptionist

Ermida Q. Moradas - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — A retired military officer is now facing a complaint for acts of lasciviousness before the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office after he was accused of sexually harassing a 19-year-old resort receptionist in Barili, Cebu Saturday evening.

Police Officer 3 Cristina J. Ricaña of the Barili Police Station said that the 60-year-old suspect and his friends checked in at the resort that night.

The suspect, who was already drunk when he arrived at the resort, reportedly followed the victim, who was preparing the reserved videoke room for the suspect and his friends.  The suspect allegedly kissed the victim.

“Wala kahibawo ang biktima nga nisunod niya ang suspect.  Igo ra unta ni mag-on ang victim sa aircon ug TV. Gi-kissan daw ni siya.  Maayo nalang kay dali siya nakadagan,” said Ricaña.

After that, the victim immediately reported the incident to her colleagues and informed the resort owner, who was the one who reported it to the police.

The police immediately responded to the complaint and successfully arrested the suspect.  The suspect is reportedly a native of Barili, Cebu and would visit his relatives in the town from time to time.

The suspect is now temporarily detained at the Barili Police Station pending the filing of the criminal complaint against him. (FREEMAN)
