CEBU, Philippines — A man whom police identified as a drug pusher and leader of a robbery group spent Christmas in jail after he was arrested in his residence in Barangay Malingin, Daanbantayan last Monday.
Suspect Jobert Rodrigo, 27, is also tagged as the most wanted person in Daanbantayan town.
Police operatives nabbed Rodrigo by virtue of an arrest warrant for his drug case issued by Judge Antonio Marigomen of Regional Trial Court Branch 61 of Bogo City.
Last May, Rodrigo reportedly had a fight with a barangay tanod. Police then responded to the trouble. Upon seeing the policemen, Rodrigo allegedly escaped but threw to the ground a sling bag that he was holding.
The bag reportedly contained 132 packs of white powder believed to be shabu. A case was filed against Rodrigo and an arrest warrant was eventually issued this month.
Senior Insp. Irish Delim, Daanbantayan police chief, said Rodrigo has shifted to robbery from selling drugs after last May’s incident.
Delim said Rodrigo is now known as a leader of a robbery group in Daanbantayan responsible for series robbery incidents in the town.
Rodrigo and his cohorts are facing a robbery case.
Rodrigo is temporarily detained at Daanbantayan police stockade. (FREEMAN)
