Another colorum van apprehended

CEBU, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) - 7 continues to intensify its effort in apprehending colorum vehicles in the roads.

The most recent apprehension was yesterday morning when a van was caught loading passengers and collecting individual fares just across the South Bus Terminal in Cebu City.

 LTFRB-7 Regional Director Ahmed Cuizon said the apprehended colorum van is now at their office parking space for lack of an impounding area.

Cuizon said that this year, they have apprehended 44 colorum vehicles making them third in rank nationwide in terms of apprehension.

Of the 44, 26 are vans, seven are tourist vans, seven are Grab cars and four are Uber cars.

Operating a colorum van carries a penalty of P200,000 as fine and the unit will be impounded for three months while colorum cars have a penalty of P120,000 and also impounding of units for three months.

Yesterday’s apprehension was done in cooperation with the operatives of the Cebu City Police Office. (FREEMAN)
