CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu provincial government has earmarked P11.7 million for various infrastructure projects, including the construction of school buildings in southern Cebu.

The project beneficiaries are schools located in far-flung areas of Malabuyoc town (Sto. Niño Elementary School) and Badian town (Manduyong National High School and Talayong Elementary School).

Of the total allocation, the province has set aside P6,010,513 or over P2 million for each building which will have two classrooms. It will accommodate 300 students, with 50 students in every classroom.

The Provincial Board has already authorized Governor Hilario Davide III to enter into an agreement with the project contractor, Tuanson Construction, for the “supply of labor, materials, and incidentals for the construction.”

The remaining amount of over P5 million was allotted for the enhancement of the Provincial Accounting Office amounting to P4.5 million, and for the construction of Biga Level III waterworks system in Toledo City worth P1.12 million.

The winning contractor of the waterworks system was Fairchild Builders and Developers Inc., while Yes Construction won the bid for the P4.5 million project.

The contractors were declared by the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) as the bidder with a single calculated and responsive bid (SCRB) for the projects.

According to BAC, the contractor also complied with the provisions of Republic Act 9184 or the Government Procurement Reform Act and other related laws. (FREEMAN)
