29 cops face reassignment
CEBU, Philippines - At least 29 policemen in Central Visayas who have been reinstated to service have been recommended for reassignment to other areas, including Basilan.
The 29 were suspended from service for grave misconduct.
Police Regional Office-7 Director Noli Taliño said yesterday the names of the 29 have been forwarded to Camp Crame for assessment.
PRO-7 did not divulge the identity of the 29.
"…grave misconduct depende yan. May in line of duty ang pagkaroon ng kaso, may mga police din diyan… naayos ang complainant," he said.
The PNP national headquarters is set to re-assign about 200 police officers to other areas or in the Province of Basilan.
Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos, spokesperson of the PNP, said earlier reassigning policemen is not a form of punishment but part of the ongoing program of the PNP.
Cleansing in the PNP came after members of the Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (AIDG) allegedly kidnapped and killed Korean businessman Jee Ick-joo in Angeles, Pampanga. (FREEMAN)
