Ferry service eyed from Consolacion to Mactan

CEBU, Philippines - A ferry service from Consolacion town to Lapu-Lapu City is now being looked into by local investors.

Consolacion Mayor Teresa Alegado said that there were several local investors who offered to open a ferry service to ease the traffic problem in the north. Alegado said the proposal would be a short term solution to the traffic problem in Mandaue City.

"Daghan na og mga local investors nga gusto mo-implement sa maong proyekto. Pero they are still conducting feasibility study like pila ka barko ang ibutang ug pila gyud ka pasahero ang motabok from Consolacion to Lapu-Lapu City," Alegado said.

The mayor said that the ferry service is a better option while waiting for the proposed light rail transit system to be constructed.

She said that with the ferry service, commuters from the north going to Lapu-Lapu City need not anymore go through the traffic congestion in Mandaue City. (FREEMAN)
