Abandoned ampoules not nubain, says police
CEBU, Philippines - The 799 ampoules of liquid substance abandoned at the GT Express terminal in Barangay Kamagayan, Cebu City last Saturday were tested negative for nubain.
The Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory has confirmed that the liquid substance was just Ranitidine, a type of antacid used to treat ulcers.
Police Senior Inspector Mary Garcia, forensic chemist, reported that all the ampoules were negative of the presence of dangerous drugs.
The glass capsule similar to nubain ampoules contained colorless liquid substance. The ampoules were stuffed in a box that was left at the terminal causing alarm to the Barangay Intelligence Unit of Kamagayan.
Richelito Jacaban, a member of the Kamagayan BIN, turned over the box to the police past 10 a.m. on Saturday. It was first thought as nubain because of its container. (FREEMAN)
