CEBU, Philippines - A box of medicine abandoned in the terminal in Barangay Kamagayan, Cebu City yesterday alarmed members of the anti-crime unit in the area.
Richelito Jacaban, member of the Kamagayan Barangay Intelligence Unit, turned over the box to the police after he found it being left unattended in GT Express terminal. They were suspicious of the contents of the box prompting him to bring it to the authorities.
When the police checked the box, it was found to contain several small boxes of liquid substance, which the police initially thought as nubain because it was in ampoules similar to that of the regulated drugs.
The glass capsule with body and conical tip similar to nubain ampoules contained yellowish liquid substance. It was later found that it was actually Ranitidine, a medicine for ulcers and is used as antacid.
Police Officer 2 Edades Bustarde, desk officer of the Parian Police Station, said the box contained 799 ampoules of medicine. Police temporarily held the box under their custody until the owner will claim it from the police precinct. (FREEMAN)
